My mum is 89 years old and lives in her own house, I give mum as much time as I can but my husband and I have our own business and are very busy. There are times when I just can’t be there for mum and “The Carers” fill that position. They provide respite when I go on holidays, they assist mum with the cleaning of her home and if mum isn’t 100% health wise they can provide personal care e.g. assist with showering.

The staff at “The Carers” are always happy to assist and go out of their way to provide a service, nothing is too much trouble.

It gives me peace of mind knowing that The Carers are there for mum.

The Carers looked after my mother for four years and offered a service we could not fault. One of the greatest advantages of dealing with The Carers is that they are not a part of a large conglomerate and so were able to provide a personalised ‘boutique’ service. They responded to my mother’s care as an individual taking her requirements into consideration, and providing a service that was flexible and consistently professional, which most importantly allowed her to stay in her own home with dignity.

My mother required two services a day for six days a week and carers arrived at prearranged, specific times. The Carers valued the importance of keeping the number of care staff to a minimum with little change, so Mum had a small core team of empathetic, reliable and attentive staff who understood her needs and with whom she established a strong rapport.

The individualised attention was also evident in the administration of my mother’s package. The care plan was monitored and reviewed on a regular basis and the service schedule was emailed well in advance. If there were any changes or clarification required there was always one person to communicate with, either through email or phone. The response was always polite, attentive and very timely. There was never a recorded message on the other end of the phone.

The Carers pay attention to detail, assess individual needs, and at all times respond with professionalism, consideration and respect for their client.

The Carers currently provide a service to my Mum who is 86 years old and prior to that provided care to my Dad, who has since passed away. When we made a family decision to get care for Mum we didn’t hesitate calling on the “The Carers” again as they were brilliant with Dad.

Both of my parents were against going into residential care, particularly so my Mum, however, Mum got to the stage where she was unable to live home alone and we struggled as family to look after her needs as her health has deteriorated with age. Mum at the moment has carers in twice a day. She is assisted independent.

Michelle, the proprietor, has a background of nursing which is so beneficial and I believe a must when running this kind of business. Before any carers come into the home, Michelle has an initial comprehensive interview with the family and the person involved, it is very complex but transparent. My Mum is a very private person so the thought of strangers coming into her home didn’t sit well with her and to be honest I was nervous too, as I did a lot of the caring myself along with my siblings so I/we needed to know that all her needs where going to be meet, knowing how difficult at times mum could be because she was scared.

Mum has had care provided in her home since 2012/13. To date she has 2 different carers twice a day who alternate shifts during each week. It hasn’t always gone smoothly getting the right person for Mum, however at the moment we have hit the ‘jackpot’ and Mum appears very happy. If there are any problems we just have to send an email or make a phone call to the office and no problem is too hard to rectify. You know that you will be heard and changes will be made.

There is a “communication book” that is provided in the home that the carers fill out each time they leave stipulating everything that they have done on their visit and observed. If there is anything that they are concerned about they will also let the Office know and in turn they will let the family know. The family can also use the book as a tool to relay messages to the carers.

I would definitely recommend the service “The Carers” provide. It is highly professional, responsible (duty of care), friendly and empathetic.

I am so thankful that we have come across ’The Carers” as Mum has been able to stay in the comfort of her own home (which she has resided in for the last 55/56 years) and now feel comfortable with carers coming and going. Since The Carers have been involved in the care of my 94 year old Father since Mum passed away they have been fantastic. Leanne is highly organized, gets back to me when she says she will and knows exactly what is going on. The care staff involved with Dad are kind, friendly and efficient and spend the time to talk to Dad and do things as he likes. They always complete their tasks in time and to the highest standards.
